How to Sign In to RBC Express: Commercial Banking Help Guide

This is a step-by-step help guide for signing in to RBC Express — Royal Bank of Canada's commercial banking portal. Use this page when a RBC Express user needs a walkthrough of the authentication procedure, a pre-requisites checklist, or troubleshooting for forgotten passwords, lockouts and Secure Key issues. This guide does not host a sign-in form; it explains the sign-in journey so commercial clients and their Company Administrators can support teammates efficiently.

For the actual sign-in entry point, see the dedicated RBC Express Login page. For security architecture behind the sign-in flow, read the RBC Express Security page. For sign-in problems that need live help, phone the Service Centre at 1-800-769-2555.

Before You Sign In: Pre-requisites

A complete RBC Express sign-in requires four inputs and one paired device.

Client Card Number

The RBC Client Card number identifies the commercial legal entity in the RBC Express platform. It is printed on the welcome package issued by the RBC Account Manager at onboarding.

Service Card Number

The Service Card number identifies the individual RBC Express user within the commercial client. Each delegated user has a unique Service Card tied to a permission set and, if required, dual-control thresholds.

Password

Passwords set at activation must be 12+ characters, combine letters, numerals and symbols, and are rotated every 90 days. RBC Express never displays the full password on screen or on any support channel.

RBC Secure Key (Paired Device)

Either the RBC Secure Key mobile app on a paired smartphone or a hardware fob issued to higher-risk client segments. The Secure Key challenge is the fourth authentication factor on every RBC Express sign-in.

RBC Express Sign-In: Five-Step Procedure

The canonical RBC Express sign-in flow on a browser or the mobile app.

Step 1 · Open the RBC Express Portal

Navigate to rbcexpress.at/login in a supported modern browser — latest Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox — on a trusted device. Verify the padlock icon and that the address bar shows rbcexpress.at before entering any credentials. If the URL looks different in any way, stop and phone the Service Centre at 1-800-769-2555.

Step 2 · Enter Client Card and Service Card

Type the RBC Client Card number (identifies the legal entity) and the Service Card number (identifies the individual user) issued during RBC Express enrolment. Both numbers live on the welcome package from the RBC Account Manager. A Company Administrator can re-issue them to an enrolled RBC Express user who has misplaced the package.

Step 3 · Enter Your RBC Express Password

Type the password set when the user activated RBC Express. Passwords are 12+ characters and expire every 90 days. The forgot-password flow sits one click away on the sign-in page. Five consecutive failed attempts lock the account until a Company Administrator or the Service Centre releases it.

Step 4 · Approve the RBC Secure Key Challenge

Open the RBC Secure Key mobile app and approve the push notification with a tap or biometric gesture. Hardware fob users enter the six-digit rolling code displayed on the device. The Secure Key challenge is the fourth authentication factor and the last gate before the RBC Express dashboard opens.

Step 5 · Land on the RBC Express Dashboard

On successful authentication the RBC Express dashboard loads with account summaries, payment queues, FX widgets and notifications scoped to the user's permissions. Idle sessions time out after 15 minutes. The user can sign out manually from the top-right menu at any time.

Sign-In Security Best Practices

Operational hygiene that keeps RBC Express credentials out of attacker hands.

Reference Data

  • Always type rbcexpress.at into the address bar — never sign in from a search-ad result.
  • Never share a Client Card, Service Card, password or Secure Key one-time code with anyone, including RBC staff.
  • Pair the RBC Secure Key on one device; re-pair through the admin console when changing phones.
  • Enable biometric sign-in on the mobile app after the initial password-based pairing.
  • Sign out manually when walking away from a shared terminal; the 15-minute idle timeout is a backstop, not the first line.

Phishing Awareness

RBC will never send a RBC Express message asking for a full password, a Secure Key one-time code or a Client Card. Any request for those values is phishing. Forward suspect messages to phishing@rbc.com and phone 1-800-769-2555 if credentials were exposed.

Device Hygiene

Sign in to RBC Express only from devices kept current on OS and browser updates, with endpoint protection enabled and full-disk encryption on. Shared or kiosk devices are poor candidates for commercial banking sessions.

Mobile Biometric

The RBC Express mobile app supports Face ID and fingerprint biometrics after initial pairing. Biometric data never leaves the device; only the pairing token is exchanged with RBC. The Secure Key challenge still applies to high-value approvals.

RBC Express Sign-In Help: Frequently Asked

What are the steps to reset a forgotten RBC Express password?
Click Forgot Password on the sign-in page, enter Client Card and Service Card, pass the RBC Secure Key challenge and set a new password meeting the 12-character complexity rule. If the account is already locked from five failed attempts, the Company Administrator or Service Centre at 1-800-769-2555 must release it first.
How long does a RBC Express lockout last?
Lockouts are not time-based. Five failed attempts lock the RBC Express account until a Company Administrator manually releases it or the Service Centre performs an unlock at 1-800-769-2555 after identity verification. This prevents an attacker from simply waiting out a timer.
How do I replace a lost RBC Secure Key?
Report the loss right away to the Company Administrator or the Service Centre at 1-800-769-2555 (24/7 for fraud). Mobile app users re-pair on a replacement phone with the admin-console activation QR. Hardware fob replacements courier in 1-3 business days. Exposure-window activity is reviewed.
Can I use biometric sign-in on the RBC Express mobile app?
Yes. Face ID on iOS and fingerprint on Android are supported once the user has paired the device via a full password sign-in and enabled biometrics in settings. The RBC Secure Key challenge still applies to high-value payment approvals.
What is the role of the Company Administrator in RBC Express sign-in?
The Administrator enrols new RBC Express users, resets passwords, releases lockouts, re-pairs Secure Keys and removes former employees. Most well-run deployments designate two Administrators for redundancy. Strategic actions (removing the last Administrator) require a written request to the RBC Account Manager.
